It is not hard to dispute the fact that illegal immigration depresses wages, curtails jobs, and fragments the American culture. Why are the lines so fuzzy then? The special interest groups have fooled many into thinking that this is a very complicated issue. It is a black and white issue and it must be dealt with swiftly and efficiently. We’ve all heard the arguments before, “illegal immigration isn’t just an immigration issue, it is a national security issue.” Even though it has been beat into us for years, it should be noted that there is extreme merit and justification in the argument. Of the tens of thousands that cross the Mexican border illegally every year, there are estimates that up to 25% of them are not even Mexican. Simply allowing this to take place in our own backyard leaves us vulnerable to terrorism and solutions proposed must be implemented before it gets worse.
